Why I built Octobooks

From the other side of the table

I'm Ingo, the founder of Octobooks. I'm Austrian and live in London.

I started in tax consulting in Austria and in audit at PwC. I moved into asset management at Raiffeisen Capital Management, then spent about seven years in investment banking: mergers and acquisitions at Raiffeisen Bank International, and for the last three and a half years at UBS in London. More than 30 transactions, the largest worth EUR 8 billion.

So I knew accounting from the adviser's desk, the auditor's desk and the banker's desk. Then I founded my own company, ADONiS, in sports nutrition, with businesses in the UK and in Germany, and I sat on the other side of the table for the first time.

What I found there

As a founder I paid for the books, and I waited for them. Figures arrived weeks after the month ended. Every question went by email to someone else's system. Changing anything took a meeting. And leaving was hard. In Germany in particular, I found a market where the owner often waits for their own numbers, and where small companies pay a lot for work that a good system and a good AI can now do in minutes.

In 2026 I rebuilt my own company on AI. The books of a UK Ltd and a German GmbH, kept by an AI inside strict rules, checked every night, up to date every morning. It was harder than it looks, and it worked.

So I built Octobooks

Octobooks is the ledger I wanted as a founder: double entry books for the UK, Germany and Austria, run by your own AI. Your Claude books, matches, invoices, prepares the VAT return and closes the month. You set the switches for what it may do alone. Nothing is ever deleted, every change stays in the audit trail, and your whole company leaves with you in one download whenever you like.

It is built for founders, freelancers and small companies who want their numbers now, not next month.

Who is behind it

Octobooks is a young, independent company run by me, with no investors. You talk to the person who built it, and to the AI that runs it. If something does not work, tell me: [hello@octobooks.ai](mailto:hello@octobooks.ai).
